A EUROSHORE DELEGATION AT THE 3RD CONFERENCE ON AFRICAN PORTS ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

I am delighted to be given the opportunity to write some thoughts on my participation in the 3rd African Ports Environment & Sustainability Conference as a member of the Euroshore delegation in February 2020. The Conference took place in Pointe Noire, Republic of Congo, where I had the pleasure and honor to meet and cooperate with executive members of Euroshore, to participate in interesting conversations over sustainable development and to share useful information regarding the company I represented, Antipollution S.A., as Head of Port Reception Facilities Department.

FAIRDEAL MARINE, FIRST ARABIC MEMBER TO JOIN EUROSHORE

Fairdeal Group is the first member ever from the Arabic area to join Euroshore. Euroshore gather a record of 36 members in 17 countries.
Fairdeal Group was founded in 1978 by the late Cpt Michael Sarros a Master Mariner who has been involved in ship-owning activities since 1973. Headed by Mr. Nick Bafaloukos, the Group is active today in four major fields, shipping, environmental services, oil trading plus bunkering and marine services.

VEOLIA UK JOIN EUROSHORE

On 1st January 2020 VEOLIA UK joined Euroshore, which gather now 35 Member company in 16 countries. We are delighted to welcome them within the Euroshore family and met his representative Neil Holland, Business Manager - Marchwood Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility, for short introductory questions. Most African ports have in the last decade been undergoing institutional restructuring influenced by economic liberalisation, which is a prominent feature of globalisation processes. The ports are beginning to transform from their typical service and tool port management model towards landlord in which the port authorities take charge of port infrastructure, maritime access and port regulation, while port operations and logistical functions are concessioned to the private sector.
