From June 2 to 6, Greek ship owners will once again welcome the international shipping community to Posidonia in Athens for five days of business, debate and social gatherings. For over 40 years this largest shipping event provides unique access to Greek and international ship owners and buyers. EUROSHORE participates and welcomes its members to join.

The Greek fleet is the largest under the control of any single group of nationals, with Posidonia being the top marketplace for suppliers of ships’ equipment and shipping-related services. The biannual maritime forum will be strongly attended by Greek owners and their technical and operations management, refurbishing and expanding their fleets.

The Greek fleet continues to renew itself with a multi-billion dollar upgrade which will make the average age of the ocean going Greek fleet drop to nearly 10 years. The order book topped 110 units in 2012 worth near $ 7bn. In all, at the beginning of 2013 over 80 Greek companies had some 370 ships of over 32m dwt on order. This includes 40 gas carriers, giving Greek ship owners control of 46% of the current LNG order book, according to Clarksons.

Posidonia 2014 is the opportunity for all players in the shipping world to meet and review challenges, opportunities, trends and innovations with the operators of more than 4,000 vessels approaching 260m tonnes carrying capacity – and increasing. Few events match this concentration of international buyers. In 2012, the booths of more than 1,870 exhibitors attracted over 18,500 buyers from 92 countries. The Chinese shipbuilding industry will once again be strongly represented at the country’s 1,300m2 national pavilion. 21 nations from Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia have committed national pavilions for this event.

Exhibitors will showcase the latest technologies, equipment and services. Gathering the leaders of all industry sectors under one roof, Posidonia provides its participants excellent high level networking opportunities. It also offers them key issues debates during seminars and conferences. Discussions and decisions reached during Posidonia set the standards and define the issues for world shipping in coming years.
